What do you think of fortune cookies at a wedding custom?

My sister will soon be in law makes custom fortune cookies as a job or side hobby. She wants to recover the fortune cookies for our reception to be served for dessert along with our cake, chocolate fountain, etc. Does it seem weird or a cute gift, if you have this in the wedding reception? I really want to take her to the offer because she wants to do, but I do not want to pay much pressure on her since there is a lot of people and is a long time (which is also my maid of honor!).
